New Release! Pack of Lies: The Twenty-Sided Sorceress Book 3

Book Description:

Let sleeping dogs lie. Wolves, on the other hand…

Recovering from a broken heart and coming to terms with her family history, all sorceress Jade Crow wants is to resume running her comic book store and gaming with her friends. With a town full of strange wolf shifters, a hundred-and-fifty-year-old peace accord hanging in the balance, and the Justice who broke her heart back in her life, Jade’s plans go out the proverbial window.

Wolves are killing wolves, innocent human lives are caught in the crossfire, and not everyone in town is who they appear to be. As the bodies stack up and the doubts build, Jade and her friends race to find the true killer.

And then Jade’s evil ex-lover makes another move…

Pack of Lies is the third book in The Twenty-Sided Sorceress urban fantasy series.

Book 4 Cover Revealed!

The Twenty-Sided Sorceress book 4, Hunting Season, has a cover now, thanks to the epically talented Ravven.

I’m also experimenting with pre-orders on Amazon for this book, so it’ll technically be available for purchase (as a pre-order, which means you aren’t charged until it comes out AND it will automatically beam down into your Kindle or Kindle App on release day) before book 3 comes out, which is a little weird, but publishing is a weird business.

So yes, release dates!

Pack of Lies, book 3, will be the first full-length book in the series (all books going forward in this series will be full-length novels) and releases on October 14th.

Hunting Season, book 4, releases on December 9th. You can pre-order it on Amazon if you so desire.

Book 5 is TBA but won’t be out until 2015, probably early spring.

Murder of Crows is live!

The second book in The Twenty-Sided Sorceress series is now available.  I know, I wrote a sequel to something ( and I’m currently working on book 3). Everyone keel over in shock. Then go get it and tell your friends.  Here are the details (and the super awesome cover by Ravven).

They say you can never go home again. If only that were true…

Game store owner and nerd sorceress extraordinaire Jade Crow knows death stalks her in the form of her murderous ex-lover, Samir, a sorcerer who wants to eat her heart and take her power. With the help of her friends, and sexy tiger-shifter Alek, Jade trains for the inevitable confrontation.

Until her estranged father shows up begging for help. Someone or something is murdering the crow shifters of Three Feathers ranch and her father believes sorcery is the only way to stop the killings.

Faced with an unknown foe, a family that exiled her decades before, a deepening relationship with Alek, and Samir’s ever-present threat, Jade will need all the power she’s gained and then some to stop the Murder of Crows.

Murder of Crows is the second book in the Twenty-Sided Sorceress urban fantasy series.

It’s Alive! New Series is a Go!

My new urban fantasy series is launched!  The series is along the lines of The Dresden Files or The Iron Druid Chronicles, with a heavy dash of gamer/nerd tossed in. Book one is out now (links to follow in this post) and books two and three will be available in August.  Here’s the details, with the shiny cover done by Ravven, description, and links to get it for yourself.  Please feel free to share this post!

Gamer. Nerd. Sorceress.

Jade Crow lives a quiet life running her comic book and game store in Wylde, Idaho. After twenty-five years fleeing from a powerful sorcerer who wants to eat her heart and take her powers, quiet suits her just fine. Surrounded by friends who are even less human than she is, Jade figures she’s finally safe.

As long as she doesn’t use her magic.

When dark powers threaten her friends’ lives, a sexy shape-shifter enforcer shows up. He’s the shifter world’s judge, jury, and executioner rolled into one, and he thinks Jade is to blame. To clear her name, save her friends, and stop the villain, she’ll have to use her wits… and her sorceress powers.

Except Jade knows that as soon as she does, a far deadlier nemesis awaits.

Justice Calling is the first book in The Twenty-Sided Sorceress urban fantasy series.

Meanwhile, I’m working like crazy on a new series I’m really excited about. The first two books will be out in July. Now, back to writing!

The End is Nigh Arrives!

I have a story in a totally awesome anthology edited by J.J. Adams and Hugh HoweyThis is the first of a triptych of post-apocalypse anthologies.

My story was singled out in a recent review of the anthology on Wired.com, here’s an excerpt:

“Some stories hit with more force than others. “Goodnight Moon,” by Annie Bellet — a relatively quiet story about a group of astronauts saying their goodbyes and awaiting the end from their base on the moon — is both my favorite of the anthology and the one that wrecked me most thoroughly.”

Read the full review (and one of the stories free!) on Wired.com.

This anthology is chock full of amazing stories by award-winning and bestselling writers.  Here’s the table of contents:

Introduction by John Joseph Adams | “The Balm and the Wound” by Robin Wasserman | “Heaven is a Place on Planet X” by Desirina Boskovich | “Break! Break! Break!” by Charlie Jane Anders | “The Gods Will Not Be Chained” by Ken Liu | “Wedding Day” by Jake Kerr | “Removal Order” by Tananarive Due | “System Reset” by Tobias S. Buckell | “This Unkempt World is Falling to Pieces” by Jamie Ford | “BRING HER TO ME” by Ben H. Winters | “In the Air” by Hugh Howey | “Goodnight Moon” by Annie Bellet | “Dancing with Death in the Land of Nod” by Will McIntosh | “Houses Without Air” by Megan Arkenberg | “The Fifth Day of Deer Camp” by Scott Sigler | “Enjoy the Moment” by Jack McDevitt | “Pretty Soon the Four Horsemen are Going to Come Riding Through” by Nancy Kress | “Spores” by Seanan McGuire | “She’s Got a Ticket to Ride” by Jonathan Maberry | “Agent Unknown” by David Wellington | “Enlightenment” by Matthew Mather | “Shooting the Apocalypse” by Paolo Bacigalupi | “Love Perverts” by Sarah Langan.

If you love great SF, and especially stories about the end of the world, pick this up.  Thanks!
